Sometimes I feel like I should be writing a song called "plight of the very tired wine buyer"

It could be poetic, tragic, and emotion-inducing, I can only imagine.

The Baroque music swirling in the background. Maybe some sequins and tragedy.

Anyway, I make my point that often I get home too tired to wax poetic to the wines (and other things) I consume. But unless I talk badly of them, I probably love them enough to endure a silent company with them like I might my own family and close friends.

I would love to talk all day of their richness, beauty, special powers, individuality, or their r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

But I am le tired.

(there may be a day that I drink too much cofffffeeeeee and begin to type away like a maniac-ie probably a Tuesday when I'm off-but until then, please observe my reserve)

I've been whining about the lack of this wine since I actually tasted it-and was told it was only a "preview." I wanted this for my store, just a few blocks west of this wine bar...

This wine is an exclusive at Despana Vinos Y Mas, in Soho. Also where I call home most of the time. It is a micro-vineyard, sustainably farmed, in Muro (SE of Spain). Grapes are 40% Macabeo , 40% Malvasía, 15% Merseguera y 5% Moscatel de Alejandria.

Merseguera...the grape list never ends does it?

Well all the wines we have are pretty awesome, as well as tasting almost NOTHING like what the average public would assume a typical Southern Spanish wine could be (light, low oak, fresh, bright in acidity, minimal fruit, notes of clover?!!)

in Mag, naturally.

this might be one of my favorite all time wines. it is the wine to drink after you have had a lot of other wines. a wine to drink when you should probably be drinking water and going home. a wine you order when you forget all of that and decide you are having to much fun playing some table-game with new friends. a wine that has acidity and minerals and a little tart fruit that wakes you up after everything else (delicious) you have consumed previously, and reminds you yet again, why you just love wine, the people that make it (authentically), and the watering-hole places you can tap into and consume with a bacchus-like pleasure.

I've been drinking too much coffee and am getting too poetic, oops.

In the spring, all of the planter-boxes outside Manhattan apartments are filled with tulips and daffodils. The special ones keep roses and ivy.

In the winter, they switch to the Brassica oleracea, of flowering cabbage.

New York is really beautiful in a lot of petite ways. Keep your eyes open, and your heart will be happy.

Monasterio de Corias is awesome. It is Jose Pastor imported. It is carrasquin, verdejo negro (it DOES exist), and mencia.
